Wonderful Original 1940s Vintage Burgundy Spring Weight Gabardine Swing Coat With Scalloped Hem
This fabulous coat was made in the 1940s from rich burgundy wool gabardine. It was cut in the classic swing coat silhouette of the period with strong padded shoulders and a loose fit below. The small collar has been rounded off and a single fabric covered button fastens the coat at the neck. The hem has been scalloped for a beautiful decorative effect and this design was mirrored in the pocket flaps. Large turn up cuffs finish off this stylish coat perfectly. Inside, it is lined in burgundy satin and has a maker’s label for Ed-Mor and a retailer’s label for The J.L. Hudson Co. of Detroit.
Bust: 40”
Shoulders: 14 3/4” seam to seam
Length: 27”
The coat is in very good condition with only a couple of very minor flaws as pictured. The sleeves appear to have been let out as the lining is slightly shorter than the sleeve.
