Unbelievable Original 1940s Vintage Brown Houndstooth Three Piece Suit And Coat Set
This amazing three piece suit set was made in the 1940s from wool in a wonderful brown and mustard yellow houndstooth pattern. The suit was cut in the classic hourglass silhouette of the period with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The high collarless neckline highlights the strong shoulders and two buttons fasten the jacket at the waist. Decorative tabs adorn the top of the bust and also demark the small functional waist pockets. Inside, the blazer is lined in satin.
The matching skirt was made from brown wool gabardine to add some solid colour to the outfit and features two beautiful V shaped victory pockets with top stitched details. The top stitched detailing also adorns the side seam near the zipper and back seam where an attic embroidery finishes off the look. The skirt fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.
The matching coat was fashioned from the houndstooth fabric in a classic swing shape. The collarless neckline and tab details echo the styling of the blazer, making it unmistakably a set. The coat fastens with two large buttons and is lined in satin.

The suit is in very good condition with only a few minor flaws externally and some wear and strain to the satin lining as pictured.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
