Super Rare Original 1940s Vintage Purple Lilli Ann Black Label Suit

This incredible suit was made from rich purple wool gabardine in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic wartime silhouette of the period with super strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The jacket hem flared out into a peplum and the tailoring on this piece is simply wonderful. The small collar has been rounded off and leads to a single row of five large fabric covered buttons. Inside, the blazer is lined in purple crepe and bears the rare black Lilli Ann maker’s label, dating it to 1946-1949. The matching skirt was cut in a straight silhouette and fastens with an original metal side zipper and hook closure above. As you would expect from Lilli Ann, the suit is expertly tailored and it is extremely rare to find such an early example in this vibrant colour way.

The suit is in good condition, however there is some fading to the shoulders, sleeve and collar as pictured. This is much less noticeable in person than in the pictures. There are also some lighter marks on the skirt waistband and a repair to the vent. The lining is slightly discoloured and loose at the sleeve.
