Super Rare Original 1940s 40s Vintage Royal Purple Velvet Peplum Suit With Amazing Sunburst Trapunto Decoration
This incredible suit was made in the 1940s from luxurious royal purple cotton velvet. It is beautifully soft and so vibrant. The jacket was cut in the classic 1940s silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. However the real show stopper is the small stand up collar that leads to amazing trapunto quilted sun rays emanating from the neckline. They are just such a strikingly unusual design detail! The blazer fastens with four fabric covered buttons at the front which lead to a large pleated peplum that gives the jacket amazing shape! Inside, the jacket is unlined except to stiffen the peplum and at the back of the neck where a hot pink faille lining proudly displays the maker’s label for Seymour Paisin of Chicago. The matching skirt has a large vent at the back topped with beautiful arrow head stitching and fastens with an original metal side zipper and a double hook closure above.
