Super Rare 1940s 40s Vintage Heart Shaped Halo Hat With Green Lace Detail
This incredible hat was made from black felt in the 1940s. It is styled in a super unusual heart shaped halo design with a small green suede accent panel at the front. A neat lace design highlights the green panel and adds a lovely detail. Inside, there is a maker’s label for Mado, Rue des Capuchins, Paris.
This hat belonged to the collection of Stephen Furniss, who established the costume department at Bonham’s auction house in the 1970s. He was a prolific collector of 1940s clothing and accessories and a substantial part of his collection was exhibited at the Imperial War Museum in London during the “Forties Fashion and the New Look” exhibition in 1996 and recently in the “Fashion on a Ration” exhibition in 2015.
Size: measures at 21” but due to the perching style would comfortably fit 22”
The hat is in excellent condition with only a small amount of soiling to the inner hat band.
