Stunning Original 1940s 40s Vintage Forest Green Gabardine Blazer With Fabulous Button Details
This fabulous blazer was made from forest green gabardine in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic hourglass silhouette of the period with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The clever use of panelling at the front of the jacket enhances the wearer’s shape even further by emphasising the cinched waist. Below the waist two triangular panels add a mock pocket detail and these panels have been adorned with three beautiful fabric covered buttons with decorative overstitching. Five matching buttons fasten the blazer at the front below the sharp collar. Inside, the jacket is lined in green crepe and has a National Recovery Board tag.
Bust: 32”
Waist: 25”
Shoulders: 14 1/2” seam to seam
Length: 23”
The blazer is in very good condition with only a few very slight grazes to the gabardine and some discolouration to the lining at the underarms (doesn’t go through to the outer fabric) as pictured. The sleeve lining would benefit from a few stitches to reattach at the wrist.
