Rare Original 1940s Vintage Red Belt Back Fit And Flare Princess Coat
This fantastic coat was made in the 1940s from red wool crepe in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic fit and flare silhouette of the period with strong padded shoulders and a single button nipping in the waist. The notched lapel collar creates a wonderful V neckline and large functional patch pockets add a practical detail. Beautiful overlap seaming adds structure to the back of the piece and a rare back belt further highlights the waist. The skirt is fully gored, giving it lovely flow and movement. Inside, the coat is lined in red rayon and has a maker’s label for Marlbeck Model as well as the scraps of a cut out label (this may have been a CC41 label, as they were frequently removed during the wartime period).

The coat is in good condition with only a few small areas of wear as pictured.
