Rare Original 1930s Vintage Asymmetric Cream Rayon Faille Skirt Suit
This unbelievable dress suit was made in the 1930s from cream rayon faille. It consists of a short sleeve dress and matching jacket. The dress was cut in the classic gently tailored silhouette of the early decade with an original belt nipping in the wearer’s waist. The high square neckline features darting on each side to emphasise the shoulders and turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves. The dress fastens with four beautiful oblong buttons at the bust, offset to create an asymmetric design and four matching buttons adorn the left hip. The skirt flares out into a gentle A line for wonderful movement and poppers fasten the dress on the left hand side. The matching jacket was cut in a straight silhouette with a sharp noticed lapel collar and fastens with two identical buttons at the waist. Small functional slit pockets at the waist add a practical element and the jacket is unlined inside.

The suit is in very good condition with only a few minor flaws and slight seam strain as pictured.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
