Original Vintage 1970s Does 40s Grey Striped Suit With Chartreuse Accents
This gorgeous suit was made from a lightweight grey fabric with a delicate pin stripe in the 1970s. It is cut very much in a 1940s style with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The jacket cleverly employs the striped fabric to highlight the garment’s shape by offsetting the angle of the stripes to emphasise the sharp dagger collar and the large patch pocket. The pocket is further highlighted through chartreuse green accents at the centre of the hip pocket. These flashes of chartreuse are mirrored in the bust detail, which we think may be for feeding through a small scarf. Turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves and the jacket fastens with four fabric covered buttons. Inside, the jacket is lined in yellow crepe and does not have any maker’s labels. The matching skirt also features chartreuse accents at the functional pockets and has a small waist belt with metal buckle. It closes with a plastic zipper at the rear and has a metal hook fastening above.
