LAYAWAY PAYMENT 2 OF 2 - RESERVED FOR ANDREA - Original Vintage 1940s 40s Brown Striped Wool Skirt Suit In Adrian Style
RESERVED ON LAYAWAY FOR ANDREA - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - LAYAWAY PAYMENT 2 of 2 due 5th March 2021
This stunning suit was made in the 1940s from wool with a brown, grey and white striped pattern. This pattern has been cleverly utilised to highlight L shaped panels at the shoulders as well as the large waist pockets by changing the angle of the stripes. This optical trick was famously used by Hollywood designer Gilbert Adrian to give shape to his iconic suits and this piece is very much modelled on his designs. It is cut in a classic 1940s silhouette with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The standard collar leads to a single line of fabric covered buttons, which fasten the jacket. Inside, the jacket is lined in brown crepe and does not have any maker’s labels. The matching skirt fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.
