Original Vintage 1930s 30s Black Sheer Chiffon And Lace Dress
This incredible dress was made from sheer black chiffon in the 1930s. It features the most beautiful inset lace panels at both the bodice and the upper half of the skirt. A long tie is attached at the neckline and the waist to adds a stylish, classically 30s detail. The lower section of the skirt flares slightly and two fabric covered buttons decorate each hip. These buttons are an ingenious design allowing the waist to be brought in using small fabric loops. Adjacent to the buttons, four press studs create a small opening on each side which makes it slightly easier to put the dress on. The short sleeves are slightly gathered, giving it a gentle puffed shape. This dress would definitely be too sheer to be worn without a slip, but it would look incredible with a bright coloured slip, maybe in purple or emerald green.
Bust: 40”
Waist: 32” but 29 when using the buttons
Hips: 41”
Length: 44” plus 4 1/2” hem
The dress is in fair condition with a number of small holes to the chiffon as well as some breaks in the lace as pictured. It would be beneficial to have a slip attached to the inside of the dress as this would strengthen the garment and prevent further damage.
