Original Late 1940s 40s Vintage Aqua Turquoise Tweed Suit By Rothmoor
This stunning suit was made from a turquoise wool tweed in the late 1940s. It’s rare to find such a wonderfully vibrant shade in a winter weight fabric, which makes it a real stand out piece. The suit has been cut in the classic hourglass silhouette of the period with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The shoulder line is further accentuated through the decorative swirl detail on the left bust and there are small functional pockets at the waist. A small rounded collar leads to a single row of nine buttons which fasten the jacket and turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves in style. Inside, the jacket is lined in taupe crepe and has a maker’s label for Rothmoor as well as the National Recovery Board tag. The matching label is also present in the skirt which fastens with an original metal side zipper and hook and eye closures above.
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 29” plus 1 1/2” hem
The suit is in good condition with only a few professional darns which blend well into the tweed pattern. There are some marks to the lining but these are not visible when worn.
