Original Late 1940s 40s Vintage Turquoise Tweed Suit With Velvet Collar
This gorgeous suit was made from a turquoise and black lightweight tweed in the late 1940s. The colour is even more beautiful in real life! The suit is cut in a classic 1940s hourglass silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist emphasised with clever darting. A small velvet collar marks the beginning of a row of five fabric covered buttons which fasten the jacket. The suit features large pockets near the front hem of the jacket and turn up cuffs on the three quarter length sleeves. Inside, the jacket is unlined and without maker’s labels. The skirt has a kick pleat in the centre front and fastens with an original metal side zipper and hooks and eyes above.

The suit is in good condition, however there is some light underarm discolouration and wear to the velvet collar as pictured. There are also a number of repairs with reinforcing patches on the inside of the jacket. These have been extremely well done and are not noticeable from the outside (see top left picture in the condition square for an example). some of the inside seams have been reinforced with overlocking at a later point to prevent fraying.
