Original Late 1940s 40s / Early 1950s 50s Volup Vintage Blue Double Breasted Suit With Velvet Collar By Towncliffe
This beautiful suit was made from a blue wool in the late 1940s / early 1950s. Its padded shoulders give the suit the strong silhouette of the 1940s but with a nod to the 1950s through the softer shaping throughout. Half of the small notched collar has been adorned with luxurious black velvet and the jacket fastens with two lines of four buttons in a double breasted configuration. Tiny slit pockets at the hip add a practical feature to the jacket. Inside, the jacket is lined in crepe and has a maker’s label for Towncliffe, a retailer’s label for The Gidding Company of Cincinnati as well as the National Recovery Board tag. The matching skirt is straight cut and fastens with an original metal side zipper and hook closure above.
