Original 1950s 50s Vintage Grey Self Striped Suit By Adele Simpson
This beautiful skirt suit was made in the 1950s from a grey wool with a light self striped pattern. The jacket is cut in a double breasted style with six textured glass buttons. A softer shoulder and slight nip to the waist create a typical silhouette for the decade. The jacket also features a notched collar and diagonal slit bust pockets suitable for a pocket square. Inside, the jacket is lined in slate blue silk and has a maker’s labels for Adele Simpson and a retailers label for Edgar A Stevens. The matching skirt is also lined in silk, has a rear vent and a metal side zipper with a hook fastening.
Shoulders: 15 3/4” seam to seam
Length: 29 1/4”
The suit is in very good condition throughout, however there are some mends to the skirt as pictured but they are covered up when the jacket is closed. The original belt is no longer present.
