Original 1950s 50s Vintage Asian Satin Brocade Loungewear Jacket With Frog Closures
This gorgeous jacket was made in the 1950s from a cream and gold satin brocade fabric depicting leaf design with hold highlighted roses. It hangs loosely in classic loungewear style. It has a strong Asian influence and fastens with frog closures at the front. The edges of the collar, placket, cuffs and functional waist pockets have all been trimmed in soft creamy silver velvet. Inside, the jacket is fully lined in the same luxurious velvet and the piece is fully reversible. With the velvet on the outside, there are also functional waist pockets but the jacket would best be worn open. In the pocket there is a maker’s label for Mei Wah Hong Kong and we believe that this piece was likely produced for the tourist market.
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 22 1/2”
The jacket is in very good condition, however there is some wear to the fabric on the shoulder of the brocade side and some discolouration to the velvet near the collar as pictured.
