1940s Navy American Rayon Swing Tie with Blue & Yellow Abstract Leaf Print

Something a bit different, this one. Against a deep navy ground woven with a faint geometric diamond jacquard, a scattering of abstract leaf-like shapes in powder blue and mustard yellow drift down the blade, each one trailing a burst of fine white feathering lines that give the whole design real movement. It has that loose, painterly quality so typical of 1940s tie art, patterns designed to look almost hand-brushed rather than mechanically repeated, and the wide blade gives the composition plenty of room to breathe. The navy ground shifts subtly to a deeper aubergine towards the tip, which is a nice unexpected touch.

A great pick for anyone drawn to the more artistic, abstract end of 1940s tie design rather than the strictly geometric, with a colour palette that's genuinely versatile.

Condition:

Good condition, with the fabric soft and supple throughout. No fraying visible to the tip or edges, and the print colours remain rich and well saturated with onot some slight lightening towards the tip as pictured.
