1940s/1950s Cream American Swing Tie with Lattice Medallion & Scroll Print
1940s/1950s Cream American Swing Tie with Lattice Medallion & Scroll Print
A really unusual print, this one. Across a soft cream ground, delicate scrolling filigree curls in warm brown ink, interspersed with soft yellow blocks that sit almost like watermarks beneath the pattern. Scattered through it all are a series of lattice-work medallions, each one a woven circular design with a red and burgundy star burst at its centre, giving the whole thing a slightly baroque, almost wallpaper-like quality. The reverse is a plain navy satin, a nice contrast to the busier printed face, and the overall effect sits somewhere between decorative and painterly, the kind of tie that rewards a closer look.
A distinctive choice for the collector after something a little more unusual than your standard geometric or floral print, with plenty of detail to keep the eye interested.
Condition:
Good condition. There's some visible fading to the navy ground of the tail in places, along with light general wear consistent with age. No fraying to the tip, and the printed pattern remains clear and well defined throughout.
