Late 1940s Early 1950s Red, Navy & White Interlocking Rectangles American Swing Tie – Berman's

Set against an all-over brick-effect ground in black and white, bold interlocking rectangles in red and navy stack down the blade in a stepped, chain-like formation, each one slightly offset from the last. It's a graphic, architectural pattern that fits squarely with the mid-century love of abstract geometry, the same visual language you'd find turning up on textiles, ceramics and wallpaper through the late 1940s and into the 1950s. The satin ground has a good weight to it, and the contrast between the busy brick texture and the clean lines of the rectangles gives the whole thing real punch.

Condition:
