1940s Navy Swing Tie with Red & Yellow Medallion Print – Washington Shirt Co.

There's something wonderfully bold about the way this tie plays with scale. Set against a deep navy ground, five painted medallions climb the blade in graduating sizes, each one a burst of red and egg-yolk yellow ringed with a scalloped white border. It's the kind of pattern that could only really belong to the late 1940s, when men's ties briefly threw off convention altogether and went in for colour, movement and a bit of showmanship. The navy ground carries a subtle woven cross motif that only catches the light at certain angles, and the wide swing blade gives the whole thing real presence.

The graduating medallion print and confident colour palette make this a strong pick for anyone building out a proper 1940s wardrobe or after a swing tie with genuine character rather than a reproduction print.

Condition:

Very good condition overall, with the wear you'd expect from a tie of this age. There's some fraying visible along the edge of the label, and light general softening to the lining is typical for the period.
