Original 1940s 40s Volup Vintage Summer Suit By Car-O’Lee Of California
This gorgeous summer suit was made in the 1940s from nubby linen in a light tan shade with a hint of blush pink. It is cut in a classic 1940s silhouette with padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a beautiful peplum below. The sharp pointed collar marks the beginning of a row of three large buttons which fasten the jacket. Two matching buttons decorate each of the waist pockets, which are shaped in an interesting reverse scallop pattern. Clever darting above and below the waist seam further emphasises the shape of the jacket and the three quarter length sleeves are finished off with turn up cuffs. Inside, the jacket is unlined and has a maker’s label for Car-O’Lee of California. The matching skirt is cut in a slight A line and fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 30 3/4”
The suit is in very good condition with only an almost invisible repair to the skirt side seam.
