Incredible Original 1940s 40s Vintage Mustard Yellow Houndstooth Double Breasted Wool Princess Coat
This amazing coat was made in the 1940s from a mustard yellow wool with a brown houndstooth pattern. It was cut in a flattering fit and flare princess style with padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a flared skirt. The large sharp notched lapel collar leads to six buttons which have been arranged in a double breasted configuration. The nipped waist is further highlighted with a buttoned back belt, which emphasises the beautiful pleating at the back of the coat. The voluminous sleeves end in large term up cuffs which have been backed in brown velvet. The same brown velvet also adorns the underside of the collar and there are small slit pockets at the waist. Inside, the coat is lined in brown satin and there is an internal zip where a zip in winterised liner would have been attached.
Shoulders: 17” seam to seam
The coat is in very good condition with only a small bit of fraying to the pocket openings (you have to look very closely) and a hole in the right pocket lining. The zip in liner is no longer present.
