Original 1940s 40s Vintage White Summer Skirt Suit With Navy Accents By Kipness
This beautiful summer suit was made in the 1940s from a super lightweight linen cotton blend. The v-neckline is surrounded by a notched lapel collar with a navy highlight, which is also present on the flaps of the functional waist pockets and the cuffs. A line of three fabric covered buttons with blue stitched centres run down the centre of the jacket focussing around the nipped waist. Inside, the jacket is lined in crepe and has a maker’s label for KInness as well as a Garment Union label. The matching skirt has a pretty pleated rear vent and fastens with a metal side zipper and top button closure.
Jacket
Bust: 36”
Waist: 27”
Shoulders: 15 1/4” seam to seam
Skirt
Waist: 25”
Hips: 39”
Length: 31 1/2” plus 1 1/2” hem
The skirt suit is in very good condition, however there is some light underarm staining to the lining as pictured. When viewed in strong light, jacket is a very slightly different shade of white to the skirt (likely from different amounts of laundering) and there is some very faint marking to the shoulder and hem as well as the top band of the skirt.
