Original 1940s 40s Vintage Royal Purple Suit With Velvet Collar By Garfinckel
This wonderful skirt suit was made from royal purple wool in the 1940s. It is cut in a classic 1940s silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The flared peplum, which has been padded at the front and has a vent in the back, further emphasises the small waist and adds shape to the suit. The notched lapel collar is partly adorned with black velvet and neat turn up cuffs finish off the jacket beautifully. The jacket closes with a row of six buttons at the front and is lined in purple crepe. The inside also features a maker’s label for Frechtel New York, a retailer’s label for Julius Garfinckel & Co and the National Recovery Board label. The skirt is straight cut and closes with an original metal side zipper and hook fastening above.
