Original 1940s 40s Vintage Red Princess Coat With Astrakhan Collar By Carl New York
This incredible coat was made from a soft red wool in the 1940s. It is cut in a classic princess coat style with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The quality of tailoring on this piece is simply incredible. A small rounded astrakhan collar marks the beginning of a row of four fabric covered buttons which fasten the coat. There are functional slit pockets at the hip and turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves nicely. The skirt flares beautifully with great swishy movement and there is a waist tie inside for a more snug fit. Inside, the coat is also lined in red satin and bears the maker’s label for Carl of New York as well as the retailer’s label for Ernst-Terry. It also has the National Recovery Board label and an old paper label attached to the lining from when the coat was cleaned and stored.
Shoulders: 15 1/2” seam to seam
The coat is in excellent condition with only one tiny moth nibble as pictured.
