Original 1940s 40s Vintage Red And Grey Plaid Skirt Suit By Barbara Scott
This fabulous suit was made from a high quality wool plaid in the 1940s. This suit epitomises 1940s style with its jacket featuring a red plaid pattern on a dark grey background with a matching dark grey skirt. The jacket has the strong padded shoulders and nipped waist that are so typical of the decade. It’s sharp dagger collar and turn up cuffs are made from plain grey wool which provides a pleasing contrast and highlights these stylish features. The jacket is further adorned with a faux bust pocket and a functional waist pocket, both of which feature a double tab decoration. A row of five fabric covered buttons is used to fasten the jacket, whilst the skirt closes with its original metal side zipper and a button above. Inside, the jacket is lined in black crepe and features a maker’s label for Barbara Scott, a retailer’s label for Caplan’s and the National Recovery Board label.
