Original 1940s 40s Vintage New Look Style Sandy Cotton Suit With Wave Soutache Bodice Decoration
This wonderful skirt suit was made from a lightweight sand coloured silk cotton mix in the 1940s. The suit combines strong overhung padded shoulders with a nipped waist to create that highly desirable hourglass silhouette. This silhouette is further highlighted by the pleated peplum and wide sleeves. The rounded collar leads down to a single row of buttons running down the bodice. The bodice is extensively decorated with white wave soutache, which contrasts beautifully against the sandy background. The skirt is cut in a flared A line so typical of the late 1940s New Look style. Inside, the suit is unlined and has a makers label for Bea Young Junior.
