Original Late 1940s 40s Early 1950s 50s Vintage Navy With White And Red Embellishments Jacket By Bobbie Brooks
This gorgeous blazer was made from a navy blue rayon mix in the late 1940s/early 1950s. It is cut in a classic 1940s hourglass silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist, however the pocket placement gives a hint of the early 1950s aesthetic. The jacket features a double collar and double faux pocket flaps which have been trimmed with contrasting cream fabric and red piping. Five mother of pearl buttons run down from the small notched lapel collar to the waist and the same buttons are also used to decorate the faux pockets. Inside, the jacket is unlined but has beautifully bound seams and a maker's label for Bobbie Brooks.
The Ritmore Sportswear Company officially become Bobbie Brooks in 1953, however the Bobbie Brooks name was used even before the official name change, possibly as early as 1941.
Shoulders: 14 3/4” seam to seam
The jacket it in very good condition, however there is an area of very slight colour differential below the pocket, a slightly lighter line on the back and some soiling to the inside if the lapel. The cream trim at the back of the collar has some slight age foxing and we believe there is a slight amount of overall even colour fade as the colour under pocket flaps is slightly darker than the rest of the jacket.
