Original 1940s 40s Vintage Navy Blue Gabardine Gab Skirt Suit With Diamanté Studs And Unusual Collar And Button Adorned Bustle Back
This stunning and unusual skirt suit was made from a navy blue wool gabardine in the 1940s. As you would expect from a suit of this decade, it has a classic hour glass silhouette, with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The v-neckline is framed with a Chelsea collar which extends under the arms and is pinned with diamanté studs. Four fabric covered buttons run down to the waist which has slit pockets and integral tabs which run around the sides. The back of the jacket features a flattering bustle peplum which is adorned with fabric covered buttons and is lined from the waist to the hem to reinforce the shape. Inside, the jacket is lined in crepe and has a makers label for Briny Marlin.
Shoulders: 15” seam to seam
Length: 27” plus 5” hem (3” visible and feel like a further 2” turned under)
The suit is in very good condition with only two tiny darned holes to the bodice of the jacket as pictured.
