Original 1940s 40s Vintage Navy Blue Gab Gabardine Skirt Suit

This wonderful skirt suit was made from a deep navy blue wool gabardine in the 1940s. It is cut in a classic 1940s hourglass silhouette with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The jacket features a sharp exaggerated dagger collar and fastens with a row of sixteen unusual twisted cone shaped buttons and loops. Large patch pockets accentuate the hips and these are decorated with matching looped picket flaps. Inside, the jacket is lined in blue satin and has a maker’s label for Wassongs Syracuse. The skirt is cut in a classic slight a line shape and closes with an original metal side zipper and button above.

The suit is in very good condition with only some discolouration to the lining and wear to the underarm seam of the lining as pictured.
