Original 1940s 40s Vintage Mustard Yellow Micro Houndstooth Skirt Suit

This wonderful suit was made from mustard yellow and brown stiffened cotton in a houndstooth pattern in the 1940s. It elegantly combines strong padded shoulders with a nipped waist for that classic 1940s silhouette. The notched lapel collar and turn up cuffs complement the classic design of the garment and four green buttons run down the centre of the jacket. The jacket has been cut with a wonderfully flattering stiffened peplum, which, along with princess seaming, further emphasises the nipped waist. Inside, the jacket is lined in pale yellow crepe.  The skirt is gored to add an elegant flare and closes with its original metal side zipper and a button above.

The suit is in very good condition with only a few exterior marks which are disguised by the bust pattern. There are also some marks to the lining as pictured.
