Original 1940s 40s Vintage Grey Swing Coat With Red Green And Mustard Yellow Plaid
This gorgeous coat was made in the post war 1940s from a grey wool with a window pane plaid pattern in red, green and mustard yellow, perfect with all those Bakelite accessories. It is cut in a classic swing coat shape with padded shoulders and a loose ganging fit. The back drapes beautifully and the pattern match is simply gorgeous. The small collar emphasises the elegant high neckline which fastens with a single button. Wide fluted sleeves ending in large turn up cuffs give the coat a flattering and elegant silhouette. There are discreet functional slit pockets at the waist. Inside, the coat is lined in brown crepe, interlinked with wool, and it bears the National Recovery Board label as well as a maker’s label for Etta Gaynes. We believe this piece is her Campus Coat, which was marketed to college girls.
Shoulders: 15 1/2”
The coat is in excellent condition with only a few minor flaws as pictured.
