Original 1940s 40s Vintage Gold Satin Evening Dress With Peacock Lamé Panels
This stunning evening dress was made in the 1940s from a heavy liquid gold satin. The pretty shawl collar is highlighted on either side with two decadent peacock lamé panels which run down from the shoulders to the bust. These panels are given an extra level of interest with the addition of box pleats which continue down to waist line. Three matching fabric covered buttons close the garment at the centre of the bust and three further buttons can also be found adorning the turn up cuffs at the end of a long sleeves. In addition to this, the dress features a super rare original 1930s plastic side zipper.
Hips: 40” waist
Length: 49 1/2”
Shoulders: 14” seam to seam
The dress is in good condition, however there are some holes at the sleeve and skirt. A tiny paint stain can be found at the armpit of the wearer’s left hand side and there is some faint staining at the top of the wearer’s left hand sleeve. The side zipper is very stiff and could do with replacing.
