Original 1940s 40s Vintage French White Poplin Men’s Shirt
This fabulous shirt was made from white cotton poplin in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic style of wartime men’s shirts with a sharp standard collar and small pleats emanating from the rear shoulder yolk. Due to its smaller size, this shirt would also be very suitable for women’s country wear styles, worn with a knitted sweater and maybe a tie. The shirt features button cuffs and lovely over stitching on the collar. It fastens at the front with sit small buttons and has a maker’s label for Dandy, Paris.
Chest: 41”
Shoulders: 14 1/2” seam to seam
Length: 31”
Collar: 13”
The shirt is in good condition, however there are a few marks, some soiling to the shoulder line and some fraying to the collar tip as pictured. One of the buttonholes is also fraying and there is a small tear underneath the collar and some irregular stitching.
