Original 1940s 40s Vintage Emerald Green Wool Coat With Faux Fur Collar With Panelled Back
This wonderful coat was made from an emerald green wool in the 1940s. The coat features the strong padded shoulders typical of the decade and a blonde faux fur collar intended to emulate coney. The open collar leads down to three fabric covered buttons and a set of functional slit pockets. The back of the coat has been made up of geometric panels which emphasise the strong padded shoulders and elongate the length. Inside, the coat has a thick wool interlining and is lined in a golden satin.
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 42 1/2”
The coat is in very good condition throughout, however there is a small surface nibble and some wear to the button holes as pictured. Inside, the lining has some underarm staining and some signs of wear. There are holes to the lining of both pockets.
We believe that the faux fur collar may be a later addition and it could be removed to restore the coat to its original state. This coat appear to originally have been collarless with a forth button where the collar is now attached. This button has been removed but the buttonhole opposite is still present.
