Original 1940s 40s Vintage Cream Cocktail Dress With Gold Braided Trim And Beading
This stunning cocktail dress was made from cream crepe in the 1940s. It is cut in a classic 1940s style with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The shoulder line is further emphasised through the delicate gold braid work and bead decoration on the wearer’s right shoulder and bust. The neckline features a flattering tie detail and the dress fastens with eight fabric covered buttons at the back. The hips are shaped with clever darting just below the waist and there are functional pockets at the hip. Inside, the dress is unlined and without maker’s labels.

The dress is in very good condition, however there are a few very faint marks as pictured and one of the fabric covered buttons has been replaced. A matching replacement could be made from the fabric at the hem. The wearer’s left hand pocket has a hole, which could be repaired.
