Original 1940s 40s Vintage Brown Wool Skirt Suit With Double Button Front
This wonderful suit was made from a high quality wool tweed in the 1940s. Up close inspection, the tweed is made up of red and mustard threads on a brown background, which from a distance give a rust colour effect. The suit has the classic 1940s angular hourglass silhouette created through strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The waist is further accentuated by the clever placement of darts and the unusual double button design which comes into a V shape at the waist. The sharp dagger collar and turn up cuffs give this piece classic 1940s style and the functional waist pockets are highlighted with dark brown trim. Inside, the jacket is lined in brown crepe and bears the National Recovery Board label. The skirt is cut in a slightly flared, longer style and closes with an original metal side zipper and hooks and eyes above.
