Original 1940s 40s Vintage Brown Gabardine Suit By Bond Fifth Avenue
This gorgeous suit was made from milk chocolate coloured gabardine in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic hourglass silhouette of the period with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The unusual cut away collar leads to a single row of five fabric covered buttons with interesting notched centres which fasten the jacket. The blazer features tiny functional pockets at the bust and waist and turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves. Inside, the jacket is lined in rust red crepe and has a maker’s label for Bond Fifth Avenue. The matching skirt features a long statement seam at the front with a lovely stitched arrow detail near the vent and fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.
Shoulders: 15 3/4” seam to seam
Waist: 28” (tight 29”)
Length: 29 1/4” plus 1 1/2” hem
The suit is in very good condition with only a tiny repair on the shoulder as pictured.
