Original 1940s 40s Vintage Mauve Pink And Grey Striped Blazer Skirt Suit By Davidson’s Vassar Guild
This stunning suit was made from wool in the 1940s. The suit has a classic hourglass silhouette defined through strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The jacket features a striped pattern in mauve pink and grey and the skirt was made from matching plain grey wool. The striped fabric Has been cleverly used in different directions, vertically along the body of the blazer to elongate the wearer’s body and diagonally across the collar and pockets to highlight these lovely design details. The huge patch pockets are one of our favourite features of this suit and they have been decorated with a button tab at the side of each pocket where the actual opening is. Five matching buttons run from the large collar to the waist to fasten the jacket and turn up cuffs finish the piece off in style. Inside, the jacket is lined in maybe crepe and has a maker’s label for Davidson’s Vassal Guild as well as a National Recovery Board label. The skirt features a small kick pleat at the front, which is topped with decorative arrow stitching and closes with a metal side zipper and button above.
