Original 1940s 40s Volup Vintage Black Crepe Skirt Suit With Soutache Details
This gorgeous suit was made from black crepe in the early 1940s. It is cut in a classic 1940s silhouette with enormous padded shoulders and a nipped waist that is cinched in with the attached waist tie. This tie detail is mirrored at the back of the jacket through a mock back belt. The front of the jacket is adorned with stunning soutache embroidery to the bust and fabric covered buttons at the cuffs. A small dickie, which is attached with press studs, gives the effect of a matching blouse underneath the jacket and features six swirly pressed glass buttons matchIng the soutache embroidery. Inside, the jacket is unlined and without maker’s labels and the skirt closes with an original metal side zipper.
Shoulders: 17 1/2” seam to seam
The suit is in very good condition however there are some small snags to the fabric, a pinhole and some slight iron shine as pictured. There is some wear to the fabric of the dickie but this is hidden by the buttons.
