Original 1940s 40s Vintage Aubergine Purple Suit With Fabulous Details
This fabulous skirt suit was made from a rich aubergine purple gabardine in the 1940s. The tailoring on this piece is just incredible with its strong silhouette of padded shoulders and a nipped waist. A beautiful double collar leads to a single row of five fabric covered buttons which fasten the jacket at the front. There are two double flapped functional pockets at the waist as well as a matching faux pocket at the left bust abs the sleeves have been finished off with turn up cuffs. Inside, the blazer has been lined in crepe and bears the maker’s label for The Fashion of Lafayette. The matching skirt is cut in a gentle A line and fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.
