Original 1940s 40s Vintage Aqua Blue Atomic Silk Fleck Summer Suit With Belted Back By Handmacher
This wonderful skirt suit was made in the 1940s from a beautiful quality aqua rayon shot through with an atomic silk fleck. This is the perfect suit for summer as it is made from a lightweight fabric that is unlined. The suit features strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist to create a stunning hourglass silhouette. A collarless v-neckline marks the beginning of a row of eight buttons which fasten the jacket in the centre. The jacket also boasts a rounded hem at the waist and a belted back with pleats at the waist line. Inside, the jacket bears a maker’s label for Weathervane by Handmacher. The matching skirt is cut in an A line with six gored seams and fastens with a concealed metal zipper and a top button closure.
Shoulders: 15 1/2” seam to seam
Length: 30 1/2” plus 1 3/4” hem
The skirt suit is in good condition, however there is some underarm marking with a couple of small seam splits as well as a competently backed repair to the front of the jacket as pictured.
