Original 1930s 30s Vintage Silk Day Dress With White Hibiscus Flowers On A Navy Blue Background
This gorgeous day dress was made from featherweight silk in the 1930s. It features a pattern of white hibiscus flowers on a navy blue background. The dress is delicately shirred at the shoulders, which creates loose pleats running across the bust. A snugly fitted yolk emphasises the nipped waist and there is a tier in the free flowing skirt. Turn up cuffs finish off this wonderful garment in style.
We believe that this dress has been altered in the 1940s to add a metal side zipper and to sew up the button closure at the back of the neck. The original loops are still present and this could be reopened up and replacement buttons added or worn as is.
Shoulders: 13 1/4” seam to seam
Length: 41 1/2” plus 3/4” hem
The dress is in good condition with some colour bleeding as pictured. This blends in well due to the busy pattern and is really only noticeable at the underarms. Please note pictures of the underarms have been enhanced to show the colour bleed, which is less obvious in real life. There are also a couple of small pinholes as pictured.
