Original 1930s 30s Vintage Rich Black Silk Velvet Opera Coat With Bishop Sleeves And Gold Sequins
This wonderful coat was made from a rich quality silk velvet in the late 1930s. The coat is cut in a cape style with a single hook and eye fastening at the neckline. The amazing peaked shoulders allow the huge bishop sleeves to fall into wonderful pleats which are further accentuated by the tightly fitted cuffs with a fabric covered button. The bodice is adorned with a large swirly feather design made up of good sequins. Inside, the coat is lined in quilted satin and does not have any maker’s labels.
Bust: 41” with edges meeting
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 32”
The coat is in good condition, however it has a repair as pictured, which is not immediately noticeable owing to the quality of the velvet. There are also a couple of tiny nibbles and a small area where the velvet has been depressed slightly as pictured.
