RESERVED FOR DAWN - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - Original 1930s 30s Vintage Black Rayon Velvet Femme Fatale Evening Dress With Incredible Bishop Sleeves
This stunning evening gown was made from sumptuous black rayon velvet in the 1930s. It features beautiful shirred details at the shoulders and the back of the neck. The shirring at the back allows the fabric at the back to fall in gorgeous pleats. The huge bishop sleeves are gathered at the cuff and have wonderful volume to make a real statement. The gown is cut in a wrap style and fastens at the neck with a single snap disguised with a fabric covered button and there is a hook at the waist that attaches to an internal tie. This creates a long, daring slit at the front that has been offset but an additional press stud could be added at the hip for a more modest look. An integral belt allows the wearer to cinch in the waist for a flattering fit. The skirt section is cut typically slim in the 1930s style to elongate the wearer’s body. Inside, the dress is unlined and without maker’s labels. Due to the design of this dress, it could also be worn as a lightweight evening coat.
Hips: 38” (max 40”)
Length: 57 1/2” plus 2 1/2” hem
The dress is in good condition, however some of the shirring has come undone and needs to be restitched as pictured. There are also a couple of pinholes and indentations to the fabric as well as a frayed repair (this could be cut).
