Original 1930s 30s Vintage Black And White Striped Art Deco Dress
This fabulous dress was made in the early 1930s from a black textured rayon with a pleat effect and alternating black and white stripes. The fabric has been cleverly utilised to shape the body through the use of vertical striped with two horizontal striped panels running down either side of the bodice all the way to the hem. In classic early 1930s style, this dress a wonderfully large collar and the back is adorned with a geometric panel with six decorative buttons cleverly placed between the horizontal stripes. The cuffs are trimmed with cream crepe and can either be worn turned up to show off this detail or turned down for a simpler look. The waist can be nipped in slightly with the integral belt, which is attached to the central panel and fastens at the back with press studs but could be tied for a tighter fit. The dress is fastened with press studs at the bust but these do not extend as far as the waist and there are no other openings so we would suggest allowing a little wriggle room in the measurements below.
Bust: 38” (tight 40”)
Waist: 34” (press studs on belt currently set at 34” but could be moved or tied to tighten)
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 45” plus 3” hem
The dress is in very good condition with only a tiny loose thread where the cuff was stitched down.
