Magnificent Late 1940s / Early 1950s Volup Vintage Chocolate Brown Boucle Swing Coat By Forstmann
This stunning coat was made in the early 1950s from rich chocolate brown boucle wool. It was fashioned in the classic swing coat silhouette with a loose fitting and free flowing shape adding lots of lovely volume. A small collar continues to run into long lapels all the way to the hem and small slit pockets add a practical feature. The coat is cut in an open fronted clutch style that gives it real versatility. The wide sleeves have been adorned with an arrow tap and large button near the cuff. Inside, the coat is lined in a wonderful striped bronze rayon and has a maker’s label for Forstmann and a retailer’s tag for Bonwit Teller of Philadelphia.
Bust: up to 50” with edges meeting
Shoulders: 15” seam to seam but can fit larger due to sleeve construction
Length: 42”
The coat is in very good condition with only a couple of small areas of exterior wear and some wear to the lining as pictured.
