RESERVED ON LAYAWAY FOR SARAH - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - PAYMENT 2 OF 3 - due 19th September 2021
This fabulous coat was made in the 1940s from black gabardine with a water repellant Norane finish (not sure this would still repel water after all those years though). It was cut in a classic swing coat silhouette with padded shoulders and a loose fit. However, this coat features a clever fabric belt which cinches the waist in at the front, before becoming internal to the coat at the sides. This allows the coat to maintain the loose swing shape at the back whilst giving the appearance of a belted princess coat from the front. The small rounded off collar leads to a single row of six buttons which fasten the coat at the front. The wide slightly fluted sleeves have been finished with large turn up cuffs and there are functional slit pockets at the waist. The back features a large vent on each side to further emphasises the strong shouldered swing shape. Inside, the coat is lined in black rayon and has a maker’s label for A Collegeset Original, a retailer’s label for Todd’s of Cincinnati and the Norane fabric treatment tag.
