RESERVED FOR ROMY - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - LAYAWAY PAYMENT 1 of 2
This splendid skirt suit was made from a medium weight wool in the 1940s. The fabric is an earthy Prince Of Wales check in shades of stone, sand, brown and blue. The strong padded shoulders and nipped waist combine to produce an hourglass silhouette, synonymous with the decade. A large oversized open wing collar marks the beginning of a line of four fabric covered buttons. Similar fabric covered buttons feature in the quirky bust and waist pockets, which are double patch in design with a fold over corner. Inside, the suit jacket is lined in a peach crepe and has a National Recovery Board label and a maker’s label in the skirt for Natalie Green.
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 27 1/2” plus 3 1/4” hem
The suit is in good condition, however there are two darns, one at the sleeve and one to the back of the collar as pictured, which are both easily lost into the pattern. There are also a couple of faint stains, which are also concealed nicely in the pattern.
