LAYAWAY PAYMENT 1 OF 3 - RESERVED FOR KLAUDIA - Iconic Original 1950s Vintage Cream And Black Fleck Lilli Ann Peplum Suit
RESERVED FOR KLAUDIA - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - LAYAWAY PAYMENT 1 OF 3 due 12th August 2023
This exceptional suit was made in the early 1950s from the softest high quality cream wool with black flecks. Like many Lilli Ann designs, its styling is more reminiscent of the 1940s silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The large sharp collar leads to a single row of nine beautiful fabric covered buttons. The suit features the stunning tailoring that Lilli Ann are famous for with beautiful princess seaming at the back and a beautiful padded peplum at the waist. A large black bow and swag adorns the wearer’s right hip and has been decorated with a rhinestone buckle and turn up cuffs finish the sleeves off beautifully. Inside, the blazer is lined in luxurious black crepe and bears the retailer’s label for La Vogue of Richmond, Virginia . There is also a Lilli Ann Fabric of France label as well as the National Recovery Board tag and the iconic Lilli Ann San Francisco label at the back of the neck. The matching skirt is half lined at the back in matching crepe and fastens with a metal side zipper and a button closure above.
This suit is as iconically Lilli Ann as can be, both in terms of material and design. That peplum is truly what dreams are made of, you can just picture Dorian Leigh walking of the set in this beauty!

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in two different options:
1. Pure cream cotton for your heavier weight dresses, blazers and suits
or
2. White cotton muslin for lightweight summer dresses (so they don’t show through the fabric)
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
We sell Dress Shields as a standalone item or at a discount if you purchase them with a garment. We will select the appropriate type to match the garment you have purchased.
